About Me

Before I start, can I just say…I really dislike About Me pages!  They are often apologetically modest, as if the author is afraid to say “Hey, look at me!” or they are arrogantly vain and sprout the author’s glories from the rooftops.  Or worse still, they are surprisingly clever and I feel like an idiot because my own is not very good.  Of course, I could just copy a good one, because I’m sure a lot of people do that.  But I am too stubborn and arrogant for that 🙂 .  So instead I’ll just be painfully honest and truthful.  If you like it, yay! great to have you around.  If not…ah well, can’t win ’em all.  So here goes nothing….

My real world name is Natalie.  I have been around the blogging world for a while…this is my third blog.  I debated endlessly about whether to start this blog, after all, I have two others I could have used instead.  I think the reason I started it is I want to keep my baby “stuff” (for lack of a better word), separate from the rest of my life.  I want to cocoon it.  You see, at this point my hope is so very delicate and fragile.

As of the date of writing this page, I am 38 years old.  I was born and grew up in South Africa, moved to the UK 11 years ago, built a career in investment banking IT, discovered Reiki, moved to New York 6 years ago, divorced my first husband, had a fiery in-between relationship, moved to Delaware, met my future husband-to-be, immersed myself in the Pagan lifestyle, moved to Maryland, upgraded careers to web design and social media, married for the second time 2.5 years ago and became a step-mom.  Somewhere in amongst the careers, moving and exploration of different spirituality and paths, I never had a child, never fell pregnant, even by accident.

I am now nearing 40 and having a child of my own has become this desperate yearning that keeps rearing its head, no matter how much I attempt to squelch it down.  Time is running out…the clock truly is ticking.

The big clincher?  My husband had a vasectomy after his second child from his first marriage.  After much soul-searching and saving of pennies, he had a vasectomy reversal in November 2008.

This is my story.

    Hi Natalie,
I just read your “About Me” post. It is so interesting to get a glimpse into someone else’s life. I wish you success in your effort to conceive a child.

I have recently begun a wordpress blog, and I am interested in establishing reciprocal links with other bloggers. If you are interested in doing this, please contact me at: “cumetalsmith@yahoo.com”.

To see if my blog is of the type you would like to establish links with, you can visit it at: “davidhconner.wordpress.com”.

By the way, I found you by searching the word “namaste” here in the WordPress network. This is a word used by a teacher named Burt Harding, whose YouTube videos have had a huge impact on my spiritual growth recently.

I am happy to meet you, and hope to hear from you.

    Namaste,
    Dave
